Find Out More About the Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach Area Economy & Job Market

Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach are located in Palm Beach County. Palm Beach County holds one of the highest household personal income ranks in the state, with an annual rate of growth that persistently outperforms the national average.

Palm Beach County is a a flourishing center in South Florida. The presence of a major airports and dynamic seaport gives local businesses access to the global marketplace. Highways, railways, airlines and cargo ships come together within a 1.5-mile radius, so shipping products domestically or internationally is easy.

Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties comprise the so-called Internet Coast. Presently, the Internet Coast ranked 4th in the US in the number of high-technology companies with nearly 6,500 businesses generating the 2nd highest sales per employee in the country. There are currently two tier-one Network Access Points in South Florida to serve its growing community of high tech firms and to meet the increased need for Internet gateways to Latin American countries.

South Florida's work force is now growing by approximately 37,500 annually and revenue generated by high-tech companies in the region has grown by 62% to more than $29.3 billion in four years. The Internet Coast region was named the #1 location in the country for successful growth of small business by Entrepreneur Magazine and Dun and Bradstreet.

Many businesses find the Florida tax structure extremely advantageous. Although about half of the state's general revenue comes from a 6% sales tax, there are no state personal income tax, no state property tax, no inventory tax and no corporate franchise tax on capital stock.

With a labor force consisting of approximately 2.5 million people in the tri-county area, you are bound to find the ideal candidate for employment. Many colleges and universities in the area ensure access to an educated workforce.

Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach industries provide strong employment in the educational, health and social services sector as well as the retail, professional/scientific/management/administrative,and finance/insurance/real estate/rental and leasing sectors. The median household income in the area is $60,000, almost 89% of residents have a high school or higher education and approximately 44% hold a Bachelors or Graduate degree. Real Estate Tips
Buying Land and New Construction >Buying New or Buying Old

New homes typically have a higher sales price than comparable existing homes, and buyers are usually willing to spend more on a new home because of lower maintenance costs. Builders' warranties on new homes, when combined with a new roof, appliances, and major systems, usually make major repairs unnecessary and help to counter a slower initial rate of appreciation.

Census Bureau Housing Surveys suggests that operating costs are lowest for brand new homes and slightly higher for relatively new existing homes. Operating costs per square foot of living space are consistently higher for progressively older existing homes. Utility costs represent the largest factor in operating costs. Energy consumption per square foot depends on the size of the home, the insulation and quality of the windows, air leakage and the efficiency of the furnace.

New homes require fewer expenditures for routine maintenance. The cost of maintenance first increases with age, then declines, so you will generally spend less maintaining a home built before 1960 than for a home built between 1970 and 1975.
